I have recently updated to firmware 5. In split screen focusing this has changed from split screen to a grey out rectangle. Is this correct or is it a problem with latest firmware? Any help would be much appreciated. Asmguy Premium Member. It might be the update has reset the split screen setting.
Try setting the split screen mode in the menus. Hi Asmguy I tried what you recommended. Have you tried a full switch off of the camera, take the battery out for a few minutes and then switch back on? It is not very clear but if I focus on a vertical edge I can see the split screen effect and it corresponds with the distance required. I must admit I never thought it very useful and use focus peaking, Low, Red which gives you some idea of the depth of focus. By experiment I seem to get more consistent results when I focus from near to far as opposed to the other way round. SaffronFuji said:. My project over the last few days has been to try and capture some Greater Crested Grebe chicks called ‘Humbugs’ because they have an amazing zebra stripy head that looks like the sweet of the same name while sitting on their mothers back.
The problem is that I’m shooting the mother and chicks at about ft away while they float around under a dark tree canopy, meaning that pretty much all shots come out blurred because you’re stuck with low shutter speeds and your subject is moving as well..
