Dell :: Control Point System Manager

Has anyone used the newest version of Control Point System Manager software? If anyone does any type of power management with individual parts I’d highly advise them to avoid this version. Anyone else having problems with DCP 1. Specs are in my sig. I still have control of the keyboard backlight though. After trying the 2 older DCP versions on Dell’s site, the results were the same. The ALS version never changed. Recently installed 7 and am wondering which aspects if not all of Control Point I should download.

Just got my E There are a few things bugging me about the unit such as the touchpad and touchpad buttons. But one of the real annoying things is the Control Point. Especially for wi-fi. Once the computer is running, I can see at least four items on my system tray associated with wifi, or connecting to it. How can I simply let the windows wifi manage my wifi? For some reason, when I hybernate or go on standby, the wifi managed by Control Point doesn’t automatically connect again.

I have to disable my wifi and enable it again to find my router. Or Reboot. Very annoying. It also completely disables the windows built wifi. So “repair” wifi doesn’t work because it doesn’t even see my network.

So, Is it ok to disable simply the wifi portion of the control point? Better yet, what’s the proper way of doing this? I’m fine with the other stuff, I just find the wireless networking portion of it annoying. I want to control Volume and Display brightness only. Nothing else. I do not want to install DCP for security, power saving, etc because last time I installed security and power saving DCP, it caused me disaster. I want to have my system as much sleek and slim as possible, which are the DCP modules I have to install and which ones I can delete.

I just bought a Dell E and it has a fingerprint reader! However, the Dell ControlPoint isn’t installed. Any link to whatever I need? It’s windows 7 pro, 64 bit. I had my pavilion zv upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 but the thing that is wrong about it is that it says no driver flies are required or had been loaded to this device. And their is a yellow exclamation point on the base system. Weird question, but: why is it that in Apple Mail, I can set an outgoing font to point Calibri and have it look identical to an incoming Office user’s message sent from Outlook and in fact, “show fonts” shows it as point Calibri , but in Word , if I were to set it to point Calibri, it would be huge compared to what I remember it as in Office ?

Its default in Office ’07 is 11 point, if memory serves. Is this just a function of OSX’s 72 dpi versus Windows’s 96 dpi? I’d hate to send an email at point Calibri, have it look like an point Calibri message in Outlook ’07 on the Windows size, and end up having my recipient get an email with a HUGE font.

I’ve looked at messages I’ve sent using or point Calibri in Outlook in Windows 7 via Boot Camp, and it looks like I’d expect point Calibri to look. I have lost my performance and maintenance system in the control panel, and I would like to know how to retrieve it or replace it for free. I like to use the sleep and hibernate on my laptop but I need to get the performance. I got my new laptop today, and got rid of the installed Dell Crap and installed my Windows 7 Ultimate bit.

All I want to know is what drivers I need. I can’t believe they couldn’t let me know. Theres a file in my Task Manager called “system”. It just showed up yesterday, and when i try to end it, it initates a shutdown and gives me 1 minute.

Luckily, I knew the Shutdown -a command, so I could stop it. The dell is also running alot slower, so its not looking good. I only want to do a reformat as a LAST resort, but if everyone agrees i need it, i will. I would like to disable the Pointstick on my E Have looked everywhere in Mouse and Dell Touchpad properties but can’t find any reference to the point stick. But I understand the maximum is on 4GB. For Torrent and Applications it’s easy, move the folders, delete the original, set an alias in the home folder.

In Win 7 I remember just opening properties, and clicking ‘set target folder’ and bam it’s done. I did this a lot back then. I realised I can re-mount it in Disk Utilities, and probably with a Unix command.

I just wanna save power when I’m mobile, by not having to use the spinner. Starting last week my laptop has been experience some battery issues. When I plug it in and turn it back on, the HP loading screen appears, but everything else returns to exactly how it was. Also, it won’t charge past certain percentages, which are gretting progressively lower.

It will say that it is charging, however. My friend used a program that drained my battery as fast as it could I can’t remember what that type of program is called and I think he said that it did it in about 25 minutes or so, which is expected of a laptop of this age about a year and a half old.

Yes, i actually DO think the T61 keyboard was better.. What I want to know is.. How does the compare to the ? How does the ultranav compare to the point-stick? How is the keyboard in comparison to a Lenovo? My desire is to have a number pad, nearly equivalent keyboard, faster graphics its newer, it should be better , and hopefully, the point-stick doesn’t drift like my Lenovo does.

I don’t do CAD, only light video encoding, and I fully intend to play Diablo-iii if it ever comes out. My audio is not working and I did a restore point and that did not work. I also checked for the windows update mentioned and did not see that this was installed so I don’t think that is the problem.

So I purchased my lenovo y base model in November of last year, and hasn’t acted up at all until now. Before you ask I have tried to restore my computer to a previous point before it had this problem but it didn’t work.

What happened was I restarted my computer, and then it went off, turned back on, went to the lenovo screen without a spinning loading circle, and then turned off and right back on again, determined to do the same perpetual cycle over and over again.

I have tried restoring and taking out battery with no luck. There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do.

I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it’s existence. After rebooting my system I now come to a screen to enter system password. Only thing is.. I never set this and there is no way around it.

I have tried the take battery out reset CMOS trick that used to work in desktops to no avail. This is the message I get after too many password attempts.

That is as it should be. However, pc peformance has been decreased resources run out after 1 hrs use, lagging as a result. What do I do? Do I have to recover Windows 7 or have clean up of my hard disc, and how?

Keep getting the following error message – “No supported webcam driver detected. Please install the driver using the dell resource disc and launch the center again” I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times and I have the newest driver. Recently bought a dell card, installed GPS enabled drivers and wireless manager – everything works smooth now.

The were some issues with wireless manager I didn’t like and had to fix. So I thought that it might be usefull for someone else. What I’ve solved for now: 1.

WL didn’t start in mode. Didn’t had much time to spend on it, so chose most simple and dirty way: 1 and 2 was resolved with code modification might be illegal : removed restrictions on band switch and made it always start minimized. I went and put in an SD card to download pictures Usually i would get a pop-up that asks me what program do i want to open it with.

I would always use Picasa 3. I don’t get that pop up anymore nor can i access anything to open it up with a 3rd party.
